I'm pretty sure you'll find that Travis was the person who introduced Ken to the sport of rallying. Originally Ken was just a good friend and a major sponsor (DC shoes) when he was motocrossing and his first sponsor when he started rallying as well. You could say that Travis kinda works for Ken. Ken actually started serious rallying several years after Travis. Ken pretty much paid for his ride and started with a used several year old car, while Travis's was covered by Subaru, DC, and several other sponsors. The two of them then got Dave Mura involved and he's progressing nicely as well. I agree that Travis is far more approachable and is, more or less, just one of the boys at rallies. I'd also bet that Block is funding a fair amount of his Ford ride as well, whereas Travis is waiting for Subaru's return to world rallying since he has developed a good relationship with them.

Pastrana ran one race in 2003, and started racing in 2004.

Block started racing in 2004.

So Pastrana has one year on him, but Block has never been able to hang, even 5 years later. Pastrana is just plain faster, and yes Block did help sponsor him initially, since he is part owner of DC with Danny Way.

i think for me it goes beyond hit being so stuck on himself. i just dont see the passion for driving in him that i see in the european and asian drivers and co drivers. they do it because they love it and you can totally tell when they do the interviews with them at the end of a stage. their passion for what they do reeks through my television and it shows in their humility. they arent making stunt videos of look how good i am, they are driving and loving every minute of it and that gets a lot of respect from me. and the fact that most of them started doing what they do with a beater car that they fixed up to rally makes me respect them even more because they didnt have the money to get a 300hp car right off the bat, they had to slowly build what they had to get where and what they wanted

I'm looking forward to seeing Block drive. I don't expect him to come in first, but it will still be interesting to watch. And hopefully the exposure will help the popularity of rally in the states.

Can't say anything about his personality but going into the big leagues he's sure to be humbled a little bit and I'm sure Ford won't let him act like a jerk since the WRC is a very fan-oriented competition.
Yes, that is a banana in my pocket.
