I know there is a name for the gauges but it slips my old mind, anyways, is it possible to put the dash gauges that say are in a zx3 or svt into a plain ole focus se, I GOT NO TACH
Wonder if I should have put this in the interior mod section? HA! |

yes you can swap the whole instrument cluster. A friend of mine has a 95 ranger with no tach, and he just bought a 97 cluster w/ tach off a explorer. He said that the rpm cable was already there and all he had to do was hook it up. but im sure someone who has done this before can help more.

AEM is very nice. I do not see why the cluster would not fit. I think you will need to download the info i.e, miles and so forth on to the new cluster. You may have t go to a dealer for that. Not sure.

As far as I know you can swap a tach gauge cluster into your SE for sure. I know that the SVT auxilary gauges that are located where that coin holder is in a ZX3 won't work. As far as I know, nobody has got them to work yet so don't bother buying those.

I know for a fact that you can swap a tach cluster for a non-tach cluster in an SE. I was at a G2G last Sunday and there was a guy there with an SE and he had two clusters; one with and one without. Although it constitutes odometer fraud, you can also keep your current one around and if you ever sell the car put it back in and say it only has X miles on it.
I'm pretty sure a lot of people have tried the SVT swap, but like S2 said they can't get the oil pressure/temperature gauges to work. Non-SVTF's probably don't have the sensors or the wiring to use them, and only monitor a temp/pressure threshold that will turn the idiot light on if there's a problem. |
