Exclamation broken link in engine bay.

Whats the part called that has a cable attached to a plastic piece that controls the butterfly for the intake. Its a cable thats attached to the tranny area and connects to a round plastic peice and up and down when the engine is on. Mines broken, causing the secondary intake to not open hindering my performance.

also how hard is this to replace?

DSI (Dual Stage Intake) switch
Sorry, I'm no help on the R&R though.

IIRC, when the cable (or switch) breaks, you're stuck with the short (secondary) runners, not the long runners.

I'm sure if you search for DSI cable or switch, you may find a procedure to change it out.

Wait a minute....are you past your 3/36,000 warranty yet?
If not, sounds like a trip to the dealer is in store.

In addition, the '03 and '04 models got an upgraded metal clip versus the plastic one on the '02.
That may be worth checking into when replacing the cable.

EDIT:
According to this post, it may also be referred to as the IMRC.
Intake Manifold Runner Control

And, just cause I've got nothing better to do at the moment...
Another thread to check

I thought the SVT came with a 5 year 100k powertrain warranty...i know mine does. Wouldn't the engine be part of the powertrain?

OK now im pissed. I went to the ford dealership and he said 250 for the part and 5 hours of labor at 78 bucks an hour. He told me it happened before and to put a screw and grind it to mimmic the broken plastic piece. So i got the screw in and all seems to be right, until i take it for a test drive and the check engine light comes on. It seems to be working fine but now the CEL is on and im fuming. Where can i get the CEL diagnostics done for cheap?? why is the CEL on? please any comments welcomed.

thanks,
alex
