Clutch? Transmission?
My fiancee recently got her car(2006 ford focus 2.3l) back from a Repair shop after her friend wrecked it (new cv axles etc.) and was able to drive it with no problems other than a smell by the transmission. I told her the clutch was going and I believe it did. Felt like it was staying completely engaged. Could turn the car off, put it in gear, start it and would still barely move at 4 thousand rpm no mater what gear. It was on the side of a bad road do I had a friend come tow me and I heard a bang and pieces fly. Thinking it was stuck engaged and shattered? Am I looking at a clutch and slave cylinder? any other ideas? No fluids leaking and I never got to drive it when she got it back before it broke.

Sounds like slave cylinder to me, clutch is probably fine. But change it anyway since it requires removal of transmission to replace slave cylinder
