Racing to lights.

I had an awesome opportunity to race this Yaris. He was next to me at a light and i looked over and admired his rims, and he looked at me and gave me the head hand shake "nod" thing (like Hey Whats Up).. and started revving... I have an auto and did not now if i should rev; pop it in Neutral and rev or what? lol But when the light went green i just floored it and we got to the next light at the same time. Then he turned off, after a friendly honk..

How do i rev a automatic but not change gears out of drive? Would holding the brake with one foot and rev with the other on the gas do it?

It was exhilarating because i always wanted an opportunity like that... So fun.

I was actually wondering the same thing. I could just hold the brake down on my old Contour and it would let me rev it but not the Focus. Not saying that I race or anything, but I was just wondering.

When launching a ATX on the race track, you should be able to hold the brake with the left foot and give just a little gas with the right. Then let the brake go and floor it.

Holding down the brake pedal and hitting the gas with the other foot to give it that rev would be pointless, it would just be a bogged down rev and nothing worth even hearing lol. All that power is pushing forward but can't move so there is no reason to do it. I hear other people doing it all the time when I take my Focus out. Usually happens at stoplights so I just ignore them lol

Just a note, we did not go over XXXXX

After washing my car and taking it around the block, i put my left foot on the brake and gave it gas then let go of the brake and floored it, the tires squeaked and then caught grip and pushed me in my seat pretty well.. Very nice.

the focus ATX ECU is equipped with "abuse mode" you cant start the car with the pedal down and you certainly wont make the best launch with lead pedal its about 3/4 pedal supress let the car take off then slam it to the floor also a good way to hit 3 digits easier launch the car and right after the atx goes into second turn the O/D off and it will reach in 3rd gear instead of 4th but make sure at this point you turn the O/D back on
