First time at the track with my ST...
Ended up going to the "street legal" event at Sunshine Speedway on saturday.
Ended up running three different times with my best #'s as follows... Keep in mind I have a pretty much stock ST... (Only a Steeda SRI) I ran with a full tank of gas... and a bunch of reptile crap in the trunk... (going to the race was a last minute decision so I didn't really prepare much) 0-60ft - 2.45 1/8th - 10.62 @ 67mph I will post pics of the time slips when I get the pics and everything uploaded. First 2 runs were against an early 90's NX something? It had a SR20e swap with intake, header and a straight pipe from the header... I was given all kinds of ricer excuses after I beat him the first time and ended up racing him a second time to only beat him again... it was a "little closer" from the start only because of some disgusting wheel hop on the launch but as soon as I clicked it into 2nd I was pulling hard... the 3rd and final race was against this dude in a late 80's/early 90's Firebird with a couple bolt-on's... That race was the best one because the owner was all like c'mon man lets go! Lets race! And he had 2 girls with him... One I believe was "his gf" but either way we ended up both racing with passengers and his gf was in his car when I murdered him... LOL After the race he was REALLY pissed and was all like... "Are you sure you ONLY have an intake?" I was like "Hey man you can come over and see for yourself if you want!" He's like nah f' it girls get in the car lets go... LOL All races of mine filmed and I took some pics as well! There were probably 5-6 differen't Focus's that were out there and one boosted (turbo) ZX3 that beat pretty nasty Mustang GT. Can't wait to go a little better prepared... Remove backseat, 1/4 tank of gas, wheelie bars and a turbonator! LOL!!

I know what that feels like...
I just did the same thing... I couldn't hook up, kept on spinning 1st through 2nd. My best time was 16.1 @ 85.97 mph on the 1/4 mile! Next time w/ more practice in the lauches I'll break into the 15's... It was fun though. Here's a couple of videos

haha yeah it was my first time on sunday, with exhaust and intake, still the best i could manage was a 16.05

I know I could get into the 9's with a cleaner launch cuz I was suffering from wheel hop kinda bad... There is another event coming up this thursday and I think I'm going to go again after work... Racing ends at like 3am... Hope to see some more focus's attend out there and running down the track as well!

Around here (Ontario, Canada) we don't have 1/8 mile tracks only 1/4 mile...
I have been drag racing my 5.0 mustang for years, but never my ST. It's totaly diff... to start off the 5.0 is automatic, so shifting is easy :) and it's really consistent on the laugh - just press the breaks and gas at the same time and let go of the breaks. The burnout is also easy... The 5 speed on the st shifts well, but it's not easy to lauch properly... too much rpms (the case on the videos) a lot of spin... not enough and it bogs down at the start... at least it wasn't wheel hoopin it was a straight smooth spin :)
