Where is your Focus rusting?

56K warning.....the photos I post in this thread are 100K or below, but there may be quite a few of them. I decided to post my rust-proofing techniques in this thread......scroll down to see them all.

I know all cars are subject to exterior rusting......but I'm mostly interested on the interior rust problems, like rockers, fenders, doors, hatches, etc. These are the hardest rust problems to deal with. Problems like this start becoming visible after 4-5 years, maybe longer.

I want to head off the problem. I've already dealt with several exterior potential problems, now it's on to the interior. I found a local supply of this stuff....

I've had good luck with Crest products, but this is new for me. I intend to do the inside bottoms of the doors, the rockers, and all the other likely spots, including the hatch. This chemical is totally different from exterior rust-proofing sprays. I wonder has anyone else attempted this sort of project....and what chemical did you use?

Pictures of rusted areas on your Focus would be helpful......

Edit.....I'm now finished with the rust-proofing job. Inside this thread are numerous pictures of the various areas I rust-proofed. Don't let your neat Focus rust away.....you can head it off with a little effort. Check out this whole thread about how I rust-proofed my '06.

No rust for me either.....yet. You know eventually it will start. I have a 25 year old Nissan PU that I did an extensive internal/external rust proofing when I got the thing new. The truck is virtually rust-free. Only the exterior paint has deteriorated.

I'd like to keep this '06 Focus in as good a shape for that long.....but I'll probably be dead by then.

Sadly i have some rust in the trunk. Idiot that had car before me took a few caps off under the Liner where the Spare sits. Need to really get that fixed before Florida Floods and My Focus gets a new Water bed.

One place I need to check and rust-proof.......inside the cowl area where the wiper assy sits. My '71 Datsun had a place in there that trapped water and crap.....eventually a hole rusted through, and water started leaking into the interior.

That sort of thing could be stopped before it starts.

I have a rust (dot) showing at the bottom of the hatch. That is on my winter list of "Things to Do".
