no matter what people say, I learned from this post. Thank you for bringing it up. I just did this today and it did make a difference. Not too much, but made it feel more solid, like it should have felt from the factory.

Yes indeed alot of good info in this tread. And yes the Steeda sts is one and a half inches shorter than stock. CFM has there shifter and it is 3 inches shorter than stock. I quess it all depends on how low you want to go and how much you want to spend...lol

ok, i have a crazy prob. i was going to do this stock mod., and found out it would be almost impossible to this i own an 01 zx3 that was manufact. in march of 01, now i was intregged to find that all my shifter cables are under the shifter platform and i have never seen this on any of my other foci that i used to own, and i have done four diff. foci well they were convert. to STS from B&M, and one from steeda but im just wondering if any of yall have ran into this prob as tring to do this mod........thanx in advance

nice piece , hey that red thing is black on mine and makes it so the knob is tight and doesnt reach the end of threads with the knob sideways, don't cut it too short is all Im saying, I will use this ( at least for replaceing my w(t)ornout boot)

Here are some pictures of my shortened shifter. I raised the cable mount up approx 1 inch from where it was stock. Then Cut the shaft down 2 1/2 inches, rethreaded it, and put it all back together. Also I took the shift pattern insert out and sandblasted it and painted it with 3 coats of black and three coats of clear coat.

On my focus, the Pivot beneth the shifter does nothing, so I could not see spending over 100 dollars for something that is only slightly better than the setup I have now.
