dash swap

ive tried to seach this already so if someone has tried this sorry for the repost.

ive been in the junk yard, and i saw the cougar dash, i was looking at its overall measurements, seems really similar in dimensions. i wanted to see if anyone ever contemplated swapping a cougar dash into a focus

i know if that were possible that would be a lot of work-, vents, dash wiring to some extent. but hardware wise they use alot of similar parts, switches and controls.i may be asking for it but what do you all think

Don't take this the wrong way, but have you tried putting your head in the door and repeatedly slamming the door on it? As much as I envy your desire to innovate in such a way, you are going to be running into LOTS of trouble getting everything to work correctly and fit correctly. Take this from somebody that used to work in an auto body shop, I wouldn't do this in a million years. I wouldn't do this if somebody paid me way too much money to do. I just wouldn't want to deal with the headaches. But that's just me and my opinion. You're still free to make your own decisions in life, I'm just trying to save you a lot of frustration.

And Butte, eh? Beautiful town! I don't get up that way so often anymore, but I've got a lot of family around the great Redding/Shasta area. Both my parents went to Enterprise High School many moons ago!

ive done body work before myself in shop, what i plan on doing is going to the junk yard, pulling a cougar dash, and seeing if it will fit in a focus in the junk yard, then im not out any money, other than 1$ and a fun day at the junk yard. it very well may not work. the cougar is platform CDW27(Ford Contour, Mercury Mystique, Ford Mondeo, Ford/Mercury Cougar), and the focus is c170(focus only). but dimensions are about the same. if its a direct bolt over for everything then cool if not i wouldnt even try to mod it in

I highly doubt that it will work. Would be fun to try, but even if you managed to make it fit, then the lines on the doors and center console and everything else wouldnt match up.
