'08 ATX Trans Fluid Change Interval

How do you guys feel about the 150K recommended trans fluid change on the '08's and up? I don't buy it! I plan to change mine every 50K. I have another pan with a B&M drain plug welded in it that's going on at 50K and, after that, I can simply remove the plug and change it. The LV (Low Viscosity) fluid in these is $6.80 a qt. and I have only found it at the dealer.
Does anyone know how many qts. it takes when just pulling the pan? Haven't found that info. in my owner's manual.
Thanks!
flip

Since a large part of the wear happens when the parts are new and "wearing-into" each other, I always do the first change early, e.g., I did my first ATX fluid change at 15,000.

In the online 2008 maintenance schedule, it says to change the fluid at 60,000 miles. I use the "special operating schedule" which says to do it at 30,000 miles. There is no way I would let an ATX go 60k before changing the fluid. My Focus hit 30k two months ago and I had the fluid changed, along with the fuel filter and the oil.

You should change the fluid and filter every 24,000 to 30,000 miles regardless who makes the vehicle. I hear many people claiming transmission problems on certain vehicles. Some to mention - 1990 to 94 Explorers and 2000 to 2004 F350 w/ turbo diesel and torque shift auto. I had over 200,000 miles on my 2004 F350 and 250,000 on my 93 Explorer without any transmission problems. Oil and filter was changed in both every 24,000 to 30,000 miles.

When some one tells me they have transmission problems at 100,000 miles or less, I ask them when was the last time the trans filter and oil changed and they say never. As Mr. Engval says - "There's your sign"
