Warning to sct users

SCT now has new software out for the tuners , you MUST have a SN: in Device Info

If you dont have a number there 13 long then contact the Tech (407-774-2447) ext 6 and have then get you a SN:

I cannot send out a tune any longer because of this new software (not a happy tuner) with out putting this SN: into my software first so make sure if you request a tune that the SN: is in the email

So what your saying is you have to use their new software, and we have to update our flashers with the latest firmware to accept one of your tunes?

Just curious because I'll be getting one from you at some point.

when was this update released? firmware version number?

is this a serial number loaded into the firmware or a placard/tag serial number on the outside of the flasher that we are in need of?

Since everyone has gone into panic mode, I will explain a few things.

We do not just change things on a whim. This change is no different. What Tom is referring to is the change in the email tune file format. Our older files were *.ll3 files. We have changed this formate to be *.cef files or "customer email files."

The older ll3 files did not require the serial number of the device it was going on when it was created, the new cef files require this. There were several reasons for this change but here are a few: The ll3 format would not support stacked engine/Transmission files which are necessary for vehicles such as the 2009 F150, 2007+ Expedition and newer GM CAN vehicles. We had to make a change to support e-mail tuning with these vehicles as we tune much more than just the Focus. There is also the issue of preventing customers from loading random internet tunes (which cause a drastic increase of tech support calls for us, such as "why won't my 2007 mustang start after flashing it with a 2006 mustang file, or why won't my 2005 6.0 diesel start, I loaded my friends tune for his 2004 truck that ran great.) Ultimately we are working to make things safer and easier for us as well as our dealers. Numerous requests were made by our dealer market for the serial number change.

When one of our dealers update their software, they will notice that the ll3 option is gone and has been replaced by the cef export option. That is the ONLY difference on the dealer side.

The customer then needs to be sure to use the latest update software depending on your device (X2 or X3) which is all available on our website.

The customer also then needs to be sure they are using the latest firmware on their device to work with the cef file which is again all on our website.

The customer is also STILL able to load ll3 files if they have them when using the latest update software mentioned above. We did not remove the ability to use ll3 files we just removed the ability to create them.
