Personally, I think it's a novel idea. Kind of reminds me of the old 'jalopy' racers at Accot Speedway in Gardena, California in the 50's......

Well, all cars fall into a category of sorts.

Anyways, Ive said that his idea is very original and its his prerogative to build whatever he wants to. And I agree with you, I cringe when I hear the term "rat rod". Even sadder is they sell ricer-like dash plaques, shift knobs, etc, that say "rat rod" right on em.

i say turn the zetec sideways. ir use a ranger inline engine. it would seem a bit more appropriate. (a ranger 2.3 would be neat in a light vehle like this. and easier to package, and make work.

i used the tearm ratrod cause ...well its the only way t describe the style i am going for i havent seen it on any other "platform"
ideally it would be great to run a flathead engine with the minimul wiring and all but i know i want a v-8 of some sort cause i want to have some rumble under my butt

My point is, a modified Civic, Focus, Tiburon, etc, is just a modded import, not a "rat rod", no matter how rat you make it.
a focus isn't an import

I think Jake had abandoned this idea awhile back. He's moved onto audio stuff in his car the last time I ran into him.
