Here's the FJ Meet itinerary.
8am West/Northsiders meet up at Fry's Electronics parking lot - Thunderbird Rd west of I-17 Depart to Eastside 9am Group gets together at Wal Mart Supercenter - Signal Butte south of US60 Top off tanks if needed, depart east to AZ79 at Florence Junction, south to Tucson 11am Arrive in Tucson, meet at Safeway at Oracle & Ina. Pick up BBQ supplies, drinks, etc. 11:30am Leave Safeway, drive over to Safeway at Catalina Hwy & Tanque Verde. 12pm-12:15pm Gather group back up if we get split up at traffic lights, etc. If anyone thinks of anything last minute for BBQ, they can get it here real quick. 12:20-12:30pm Head up Catalina Hwy up the mountain, stopping at vista's on the way up. 2:15-2:30ish - Arrive at Marshall Gulch, have BBQ lunch 3:30ish - Summerhaven, Ski Valley, head up to peak of Mt. Lemmon? We can decide up there if we wanna do anything. 4-5ish - Head back down mountain. Maybe meet up at a place to hang out for a while, then Phoenix-area members head back up to Phoenix. If anyone has any issues with that itinerary, let us know and we will try to make some sort of compromise. I don't want the FJ meet to "take over" per se, but I personally like the route of that one better. It avoids all the madness and traffic on I-10, takes us down a much more casual and relaxing way. If anyone here on FF has any specific needs/requests for this drive, just say so and we'll see what we can work out.

I have also invited the AZMC (Mazda Club) guys, they've been great to us in the past, would love for them to be a part of this.

My thoughts on the whole FJ version:
While the ride down 79 might be nice, it does seem like a long, round about way to get there, but I wouldn't be opposed to going that way BBQ: This always sounds like a great idea, but unless we bring up all prepared foods, we more than likely will not be able to cook anything on the mountain. The town of summer have was just recently burned to the ground, twice, due to wildfires, and from my research they are a bit sensative about this sort of thing. If no one wants to eat in the local buisnesses, we could make it a bring your own picnic lunch event, but I'm fairly sure cooking anything on the mountain is out of the picture.

I wasn't aware of any BBQ restrictions, that would definitely change our plans. I'll look into that.

I really want firm plans for this. I'm going 98% no matter what, but I would like to know the exact plans.

I've checked the fire restrictions page, and I don't see any restrictions on BBQ's, and Lancer211 on FJ says they have charcoal grills up there for you to use. They've also apparently had a ton of rain up there as well, so everything is really nice and wet. If there's no grill restrictions, and we use the provided grills, we shouldn't have a problem.

I'm probably not going to grill regardless. I'll probably bring some sandwiches and snacks or something. It's going to be a long drive, and I like to snack when I drive
