Official: Mt Lemmon Run! August 15th, 2009**CHECK FOR UPDATE**
OK guys, here's what we're going with as of right now.
Here's the tentative details (subject to change, I will update if they do) 8am West/Northsiders meet up at Fry's Electronics parking lot - Thunderbird Rd west of I-17 Depart to Eastside ![]() 8:30am Tempe/Ahwatukee members meet in the South parking lot of Arizona Mills (near Neiman Marcus, I believe). NOTE: The Phoenix people will not be stopping here to pick these folks up, this is a second caravan to Signal Butte! Maybe if we time it right we can get on the freeway near each other, but don't plan on the entire group being together until Signal Butte! ![]() 9am Group gets together at Wal Mart Supercenter - Signal Butte south of US60 Top off tanks if needed, depart east to AZ79 at Florence Junction, south to Tucson ![]() 11am Arrive in Tucson, meet at Safeway at Oracle & Ina. Pick up BBQ supplies, drinks, etc. ![]() 11:30am Leave Safeway, drive over to Safeway at Catalina Hwy & Tanque Verde. 12pm-12:15pm Gather group back up if we get split up at traffic lights, etc. If anyone thinks of anything last minute for BBQ, they can get it here real quick. ![]() 12:20-12:30pm Head up Catalina Hwy up the mountain, stopping at vista's on the way up. 2:15-2:30ish - Arrive at Marshall Gulch, have BBQ lunch 3:30ish - Summerhaven, Ski Valley, head up to peak of Mt. Lemmon? We can decide up there if we wanna do anything. ![]() 4-5ish - Head back down mountain. Maybe meet up at a place to hang out for a while, then Phoenix-area members head back up to Phoenix.

Not trying to start drama or anything, but I never said I was in 100% (I'll be driving down from Williams, and need a total of 3 days off to do this properly), and the timeline for this meet is different than the one already being planned on a different site. Seems rather silly to me to have 2 seperate Focus drives to Tucson on the same day? I have friends on both sites and don't want to make anyone mad, but surely the two groups can work on one meet together? We did it a couple years ago going up north, and it was a huge success and a TON of fun for everyone involved (including the Mazda and Scion groups we got to come with us). IIRC we had a total of nearly 50 cars on that one, it was awesome!

We really should combine our Mt. Lemmon trips, since we're both going to be driving up at almost the exact same time, although the FJ meet has different meeting points and is taking a slightly different route down from the Valley. (Taking the back roads rather than I-10; US-60 to AZ-79 to AZ-77)

I think that is a good idea. The more Foci the better.

Well, if nothing else, if you guys still wanted to take I-10 rather than the back way, we could still meet up in Tucson. We were planning on meeting up at the Safeway parking lot @ Oracle and Ina, since AZ-77 IS Oracle, and then driving across town to the Safeway at Tanque Verde and Catalina Highway, meeting up there.
Also, we were planning on having a BBQ at Marshall Gulch, rather than eating at one of the 2-3 restaurants in Summerhaven. |

Bobby-no problem, I will go ahead and put you in as a maybe for now....
As far as any other meets being planned on FJ, I don't visit, view, or track ANYTHING on the FJ. Nothing agaist the site itself, and it is in no way a reflection on the really cool guys who frequent FJ but not FF. I was totally unaware of anything that is being planned on FJ. I don't have an FJ account, can someone please email me or PM me a copy and paste of the info on the FJ meet, and who is planning it so that I can contact them and I'll gladly work with whoever is putting thier meet together to get the whole group together.

I'm with you Shamrock, I also don't use FJ. I figure that one Foci site is enough. I have enough other sites I frequent so one more might just over due it.

I've been a Focus owner since 2007, but I've only recently started modding it. Been a FJ user since Feb or Mar, and just joined FF last month -- although this is really the first time I've spent any time on it.
Anyway, we didn't really have somebody formally organizing it, but I've basically been working out the details and figuring out the routes for our meet, since I'm a Tucsonan and I generally go up the mountain at least once a month, so I'm probably your man. |
