Florida Focus Drivers...

So I'm tryin to move to either near Panama City or in the Keys around December. I was wondering if anyone lived around either of those areas and could help me out in any way?

I mean even telling me where not to go will be helpful. Just let me know what ya'll think!!

Keys are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to live. Dont get me wrong, I spent summers down there growing up, but now its all touristy and commercial now. The keys are also in the process of converting from a septic system to a city system to pump waste for treatment. The septic system down there is killing the reefs and fish populations. Just to warn you, construction will be going on for a while, and there is 1 main road everyone travels on.

PC is nice from what I hear.

Why are you moving to Florida? More specifically, those areas? Jobs are hard to come by in the Keys, unless you work at Publix or something along those lines.

Panama City Beach sucks. Its a party for 2 months, dead for 10. The locals are nice, but there aren't any FF members here. (besides me.) The beaches are trashed after spring break, so after the visitors have fun the locals clean up after them...

And you get alot of people from the southern states who think they own the town. Most people here aren't "tuners," they're straight up rice. No tracks around, so legal racing is rare.

HOWEVER:
Not much crime, its a nice place to live. There really isn't a "ghetto." The housing market here has lowered housing dramatically, and forclosures are abundant (like everywhere).

The beaches are nice in the summer, with a better crowd of visitors. Mostly families.

NOW THEN, I reccomend the tampa area. They have a place for everyone: beaches, countryside, citylife, EVERYTHING! So many opportunities there. I'm moving there in 4 months, I fell in love the year that I lived there.

But, alot of people prefer small cities with less people. My view on PCB is biased because I've lived here for 15 years. Some people would praise its features, so its up to you.

And forget ther keys, unless you like crazy people, 2 billion visitors a year, and small lots that are way overpriced...
Although it is pretty. I'm not too crazy about the drive there though.

hahahaha! Its completely true.

EDIT:
Bradenton, Sarasota, St. Pete, and Tampa are all in the same general area. Howeverm they are all different. Personally, St. Petersburg is my place of comfort, but to each his own.

Ft. Myers has a little bit of everything mixed in.

That and the beach has the softest sand. The Port Charlotte area has really coarse shelly beaches.
