thank you!--your 2nd set of instructions are the only ones i have seen that say "end in position 3". is that correct ?? hopefully, this works for me. i am also gonna take the fobs to autozone to make sure they are putting out a signal. they ARE somewhat toyish-looking.

I had to get a new key cut last year for the old Sunfire. Girlfriend lost hers in the snow. It would have $60 for the key at the local GM dealer. I said no way. I ordered 2 blanks online. First one I brought to Wal-Mart and no luck. So I brought my blank to the GM dealer and got it cut for $20. That worked. So if you want to save money try that. Or maybe just find a good lock smith to cut it for you as well. Might save you some cash in the end. Not to sure about the remote though.

Lol. You have it easy. If and when I need a replacement for my GTI, I'm looking at $400 - $600. Quit complaining.

Stories like these are why I decided a while back to buy a third key and get it cut, program it myself with the two other working keys; just as cheap insurance. It was about $10 total cost

The Focus I have came with a purple/ pink key. I have no idea why someone went out of their way for this when they bought it new (I'm the second owner), but I'll just live with it. They want way too much for a replacement.

Yep...I was given only one key when I bought mine...glad the dealer found the other after the fact!

Just picked up a used 2012 SEL that came with only one key. Sounds like I could just pick one up on eBay for $30-$40 and have a local locksmith cut and program the key. Checked with the local Ford dealer who wants $175. My wife and I are really liking the new Ford Focus. Much better gas mileage and ride than the old car it replaced, a 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon. The Saab was starting to become a money pit with all the electrical issues that kept stranding me locally and on road trips. Technology in cars sure have come a long way in 12 years.

Your 2012 Focus came with only 1 key ? My 2005 zx5 SES came with 2 keys and 2 electronic commands . 175$ for a single key is way too much, I paid 85$ at my local Ford Dealer for a 2003 Focus Key 2 years ago.
