ok hoping someone can answer my question...i have an 09 focus ses 2.0L and recently decided to pull the stock air box, and install a conical open air filter...after about two drive cycles, my check engine light comes on...get the code p0171 bank 1 system lean..so i went back to stock..the problem goes away, i bought the Hypertech Max Energy programmer hoping to counter act that..same problem occurs with the aftermarket filter...any suggestions...besides stay stock..because with the tuner and the filter i felt a noticeable difference..but the light and the same code comes up, will the computer be able to compensate?

Every 08-09 that I have done so far that has had any type if induction change has been in the lean to very lean side

To do a good safe tune for the 08-09 a AF Gauge will be a critical parts if you have mods , But I feel a AF Gauge with any mods and a tune is the proper way of doing things

right now im just running regular...i talked to one of my customers that does alot of performance work on bmws mercedes and z06's, he told me to move my MAFsensor farther away from my filter and closer to the throttle body...he says the air is to turbulent to get an accurate reading...in theory it sounds good, but im not sure it is that technical
