Hey thanks, I bought and changed two mounts from ford, the pass side underneath the coolant reservoir and the trans mount underneath the car. Car idles smooth, like new. My only question is, when tightening the mounts, do you remove the jack from underneath the oil pan to let the motor settle in the new mounts, or keep the motor jacked jacked? I didn't change the mount under the battery. Thanks for your help.

No, you should've left the motor jacked up. If you drop it you'd be pulling the motor up by torquing the bolts which would make the bolts loose.

I agree, tighten up the bolts with the engine jacked, less stress on the bolts, but recheck them after you let the engine down....also the trans mount is under the air box, not the battery, much easier, the air box just pops out. Frankly I would change the "Dogbone" or anti roll mount also, the old Ford part has been superseded by the 2008 and newer version, which is a good indicator that there is something wrong with the old style, you get a new mount, bracket and bolt.....

www.rockauto.com has Anchor mounts.
Parts stores have Anchor mounts Ford has Motorcraft mounts. Expect to pay about $150 CAD for the front engine mount (pass side, rt), $80 lower (dogbone) mount, and $120 for the rear (transmission) mount from Ford. We have a dealer out of WI who works with us, but I'm not sure about shipping to Canada. You might be better off getting it locally, but it's worth trying. Google Tousley Ford in WI, call their parts dept, and ask for Steve. Tell him you heard about them on Focus Fanatics, and see if he can work out a deal for you. Rock Auto sells all 3 mounts for about $120, but we've had problems with the front mount made by Anchor. Some people have good luck, and some don't. The lower mount will not come with a new bracket, so get under the car and make sure that the bracket that bolts to the engine is in good shape. If you need a new one then you'll have to order the Motorcraft part. Parts store prices will be similar to the dealer prices, but about $40 cheaper on the lower mount because of the bracket.

Hey thanks! Do you have an opinion on the fuel pump? Ford wants $500.00,but I can get it cheap
er with my military discount. It comes with the sending unit and all connections. Rock auto has one for $330.00,although I'm not sure it comes with the sending unit. Thanks |
