so my compression is 80 130 125 127... is that bad enough to cause lots of oil out of the PCV? cyl1 compression was 90 like 6 months ago, and i havent had the oil spewing from the pcv until recently.

just checkd the oil, it was right below the lower mark, then added as much oil as i had in my catch can (now an aluminum bottle with a real JB-welded fitting) to get it above the mark

i'm going to drive it to walmart and back, see exactly how much oil it spits, and see if its clean enough to dump back in

note: I've got about 8 quarts of clean mobil1 in the car just in case. I also have a bicycle and a beetle. lol.

Did you say you had the j-racing vent ? If so that could be some of your problem , or was that installed some time ago?

Yes I have the JR vent, the updated one with a bit of a baffle on it. I was using a draft tube, didn't notice any major oil loss or mess when I installed it (about a month ago).

The huge oil mess/loss happened last week, I felt the car stumble halfway through a fast corner under heavy load (WOT, about 5500 in 4th). When I got home I immediately noticed the rear wheel covered in oil mist from the draft tube. Perhaps the failed solenoid is somehow causing extra oil loss through the PCV? Doesn't make sense to me.

I got ~ 1 or 2 oz in my catchcan after about 15 minutes of easy driving. I didn't rev past 3k or use more than 1/2 throttle. Perfectly smooth idle & part-throttle low-rpm driving.

The oil isn't as filthy as it could be, but I think I'll keep using clean oil to top off when necessary.

Oh, also:

I reset the DTCs and checked them periodically.

After 1 minute I had
P1383 Variable Cam Timing Over-retarded

and after 15 minutes I had both
1381 Variable Cam Timing Over-advanced
1383 Variable Cam Timing Over-retarded

I don't know why I didn't bring my laptop to log, if I decide to run the car again I will log it.
