Who changed your timing belt? Did they use the correct timing tools? I'm willing to bet the timing is off. The VCT on our motors makes the timing tricky to get right without using the right tools. With the $20 timing tools, however, it is impossible to get it wrong.
I found a way. I thought it was impossible to do this incorrectly as well but if your tensioner is sticky and you don't rock the cam back and fourth to help eliminate play in the belt then it's impossible to have everything lined up with the tools and have it still be way off. I was missing about 5 inches of vacuum and it ran and idled like crap (mine was a non svt zetec but same concept).

Alright I just decided this thread is done... this whole "unsupercharging" thing has little to do with the original troubleshooting information; also this no longer needs to be in FI chat
