not sure man. I'm just saying it sounds like the timing isnt set quite right, or maybe not tensioned properly.

at any rate this is getting off topic, so if you want to discuss it further, and get lots of help from other people, too... just make a new thread for it. put it in SVT Performance or Troubleshooting. just go ahead and copy what you said and quote what I answered, or I can answer again for you there. not trying to bust on ya, just want to help you get help quickly. keeping things organized helps other people when they search for the problem later, too

Who changed your timing belt? Did they use the correct timing tools? I'm willing to bet the timing is off. The VCT on our motors makes the timing tricky to get right without using the right tools. With the $20 timing tools, however, it is impossible to get it wrong.
I found a way. I thought it was impossible to do this incorrectly as well but if your tensioner is sticky and you don't rock the cam back and fourth to help eliminate play in the belt then it's impossible to have everything lined up with the tools and have it still be way off. I was missing about 5 inches of vacuum and it ran and idled like crap (mine was a non svt zetec but same concept).

Best of luck with the build!

Alright I just decided this thread is done... this whole "unsupercharging" thing has little to do with the original troubleshooting information; also this no longer needs to be in FI chat

I'll make a new thread about the rebuild.

Oh just realized I didn't mention here that the block is all painted up now. I shrank the pics in the quote, click on to the original post for full sizes.
