AC removal

Hi everyone,
I happened to get finally get the 02 foci for cheap, since its rusting and need some work on the suspension, but thats unrelated ;)

I was thinking, since the whole AC system is all busted (lines are bad, compressor is done for...) that i could just remove the whole thing, since its all dead weight now. I checked with people at work, and they showed me that i could remove the compressor and all, and just change the belt and it would be done with. My question being, would removing the Ac compressor and all mess with the ECU in any way, since the car came equipped with it.

If anyone have a thought on the subject, drop me a line here, id be happy to have more info.

Charles

**EDIT**
The car is a '02 SE ATX SPI, and as far as i know, the AC compressor removal would be fine since my alt is in front of the engine, if that makes sence to anyone

you should be fine with just putting the shorter belt on it it won't mess with the ecu.
