my ebay discovery (turbo?)

all i can say is 99% chance too good to be true, but you never know when that 1% is gonna come around. and since i know nothing mechanical about turbos (just the general theory/application) can you guys take a look at this theres a couple up now theyll probably be re-listed.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-T4...Q5fAccessories

now im not a moron... even if this application would be compatible i wouldnt expect the same gains as fswerks/focussport or f2 turbos, but for 600 you could work up to it or make it a quick upgrade until you can afford the suggested brake/suspension stuff to go with a turbo

no reason that wouldnt work, except that it doesnt include some important, expensive items. the down pipe and manifold themselves could run another 600 alone. then there is the tune you would need, which is another 450. still cheaper than 4k though.

i know some turbo guys, as i own turbo'd cars, and some of them do that...rebuild turbos or make their own kits to sell on forums or ebay, and they are very well-received/reviewed.

just cuz its different, doesnt mean it wont work.

i'll throw my 2cents in take it how you want it.

i think for someone who doesn't have much first hand knowledge about somthing like this, it would be wise to buy a pre-made kit that has been tested and proven to work aswell as have the customer service to help back it up if you run into problems.

now someone who has installed and knows there way around it, then i think it be worth it to save some bucks and make you're own kit. if you know some people in your area who have experience putting together a home brew, then i'd suggest talking to them and getting their input and let them help you out so you don't end up spending just as much money to get the same or less results, plus a huge headache. i will say this though, peicing together a kit would help you learn a lot about the whole system, but research can provide the same.

super rare and JDM yo!

i'm piecing together my own custom kit as after talking to many tuners, the internal wastegate setups that both kits come with are undesirable... Also I want to be able to control where the piping runs...

Not sure if I would buy into the whole "Universal Turbo Kit" theory. As others have stated the kit is not complete and for that price it is all probably rebuilt parts anyway. So sure they may replace it if you have issues (as they say, but no refunds) but how long will it take to get your replacement part? Do they have to wait until they can rebuild another out of salvage? Ouch! Not to mention there is so much more to just strapping a turbo on to your car. There is the ECU tune, the correct plugs, not to mention the previous installation on a vehicle to know exactly how much boost is ok for your internals. Sure this suposedly puts out 27 pounds of boost, but 12 pounds may be enough to blow a rod through your hood. I think you are right in your thoughts to good to be true. Definately way to many unknowns. I would email the hell out of this one to test their knowledge of what exactly they are offering.

Well the turbo mani doesn't look to bad. Just aslong as its welds are good. But yeah the turbo can put out 27 pounds. Mine puts out 22 psi max. However I'm only running with safe levels for my internals.
