Talking Diy cai

So I just finally got around to doing the intake aswell and I am very happy with how it turned out. I used this website that someone posted on how to actually do the intake but I found that there were probs with what was posted... at least for me (and my focus type). There was absolutuly no way that the intake would have fit without the elbow bends (yes thats spectra) to lengthen and move the cone-filter under the drivers fender. There are certain additional components that were attached to my car that made the placing of the filter impossible. I don't know if that has to do with the body style or not but, so be it. Those with a 04 Dura heed my warning. Thanks to Daveyboy for the inspiration!

Just done this mod last weekend. Seems I have alot more pull now and and sounds great. Only problem I have a CEL now. Had it checked out and was told that the engines running lean. Unhooked the Batt for 10 min CEL was gone but came back on after about 30 miles driving. Really confusing because the engine ideals smooth aand runs great when I'm into it. Was 10 min long enough for the reset or should I do it again?

yes thats long enough...you have more air now, so it is running lean. which is dangerous. try to clean your maf, it MAY help....

Weird. I did a cold air intake and flex-back exhaust before getting a tune and I never got a CEL

You probably have a vacuum leak after the MAF. Make sure everything is tight. Also, clean your MAF like Nem said. Good luck.

i've read that the K&N typhoon can cause this problem too, is there any particular reason why?

More air + same amount of fuel = leaner mixture.
