Retrofitting VW Flip key

I've heard talk of this in the past, but I decided I'm goiing to tackle this as a project. Hopefully if everything goes right, I'll create a how to. I just bought one on ebay and it should be here in a couple days, but in the meantime I have a couple questions.

-Can the remote be programed to work with the focus? If so, it'll save me a lot of time(since creating the key will be the easy part!) I found the procedure for putting your system into discovery mode in order to add another remote entry, but I wasnt sure if the VW one worked on the same frequency.
- What is the best(and safest) way to remove the PATS chips from the stock key? My plan for this mod is to pull the chip from the key and carve a place out in the VW key to put it into, but before I go hacking away at my key, I want to make sure I dont damage the chip in the process. Worst case scenario, I will just mount the chip out of sight but near the cylinder.

If I cant reprogram the key, I'm thinking about retrofitting the current remote entry into the VW key by creating my own fibreglass mold in which I can house the buttons from the original remote. It wont have the sleek VW buttons but I want to maintain the remote functionality at all costs.

As fasr as the key is concerned, I think that will be the easiest part of all to create.

Any input about this endevour will be greatly appreciated. I have always liked the flip keys and the idea of streamlining my keyring so I'm going all out on this as soon as the key arrives!

Over in the uk this is a popular mod but instead of using vw flip key they use a flip key from a jaguar and it's pretty easily done with full compatibility with buttons etc ! eBay. Co.uk search for jag flip key or search for flip key on focusowners.com u might find the info ur after

"Felt like I was using a switchblade everytime I whipped that sucker out!"
That's what she said. Sorry, it was coming sooner or later.
Btw, the quote thing took too long so I had to do the DIY approach.

I doubt the VW key will work with the Focus' keyless entry. You're either gonna have to somehow swap the electronics or have a fob.

They sell focus flip-out keys on ebay. You just have to put your PATS chip in it.

I was thinking of spelling it differently to get the effect but decided differently. Lol.

The Jag key is also really different so maybe the Focus flip out is the easiest way to go.
