Need some help with windshield wipers.

I was wanting to know if anyone has had troubles the front and rear wipers on the zx3. I have had my my car in the shop 5 times for the wipers not working properly. It started with the rear wipers not working at all, the changed the relays and started working again. Soon after the fronts stop working, changed relays back to working. A couple of days later it raining and i turn on the rear wipers, and now the intermitten speed is no longer working. the did something to it can't remember exactly what, but the worked again. About a month later no rear wipers again. Today they replaced the rear wiper motor, it didn't work. They replaced the wiper control on the steering wheel, call me out and it's all fixed. I get in and take off and decide to try them all before i get to far away, wouldn't you know it now the front intermitten doesn't work, so I turn around and go back, NOT very happy. They pulled the hard file on the car and tell me the car has had theses problems since it was brand new with previous owner, and have not been able to get it fixed. So I was wondering if anyone else has come across this before and how did you get fixed. Thanks. OH and by the way it was in for chattering noise coming from the transmission, yea the old owner had it in for grinding noises too.

Henry,

I had an 01 zx5 before I traded it in for the 04 zx5 and the 01 had problems with the front intermittent wipers. It would come up but wouldn't come down and I had to play with the controls to get the wipers back down. Unfortunately, I never knew what the problem was coz when I called it in to Ford, they wanted to keep the car for a couple of days and from experience, a couple of days to this dealership meant a week. I traded it in as is. Sorry I couldn't help you much but just wanted to let you know you're not the only one with this problem. Good luck!!

Here is a list of TSB's (Technical Service Bulluetins) for the 02 ZX3. I didn't see wipers listed but I did on another:

http://www.alldata.com/TSB/19/021953DU.html

Then I checked 01 ZX3 and found this:

http://www.alldata.com/TSB/19/01195379.html

Notice the first listing concerns a wiper recall.

Basic info from this site is free, but you must pay for more detailed info...prolly worth it in the long haul. Hope this helps.

It looks like the recall was for wiper motor switch and that's already been replaced. Who knows, but thanks for the info.

I have the same problem with my rear wiper. it gets stuck everywhere! I haven't looked into fixing it yet. I also have the same transmission chatter problem which is a bigger concern to me. While the car was under warranty I took it in numerous times with no luck. eventually i was told by the service manager that it was "normal". I don't believe them with that, but I haven't had any transmission problems (yet). hopefully someone here has some helpful advice!
