Question Car boggs down in 1st gear with Volant intake

I know it's common knowledge that a shorty/cone filter intake may cause your car to bog down in 1st gear because it can pull too much hot air from the engine bay but I notice that my car has been doing this since the temps got above 80 and I have a Volant intake.

If I punch it in 1st gear, right around 2-4K rpms, the car bogs and I can sort of almost hear a sputter. I have a Magnaflow exhaust.

All other gears and driving is normal. The engine also operates and idles normally.

If I gradually open up the throttle(65mm TB) and give it gas, it doesn't sputter.

Does this sound normal ?

yup, when its hot out, the car still pulls in warmer air then when you're moving. Warmer air=overly smart computer pulls timing=bog. yay! haha I've yet to hear of a volant owner complain, but doesn't matter how good the product, it happens to the best of em

yea but doesn't he volant bring in cold air??? Well, it does if you run a duct off that side duct to bring in cold air...but i wuold have thought with a CAI you would not have to worry about engine temps affecting the intake charge temp. The whole idea behind having a CAI.

The Volant has the big hole in the top, which doesn't get completely sealed and the side duct pulls air partially from the engine bay too. Not sure how much air the top and side pull from the engine bay but apparently, it must be enough to cause my car to bog down during these hotter temps.

Well, I have the Iceman snorkle instead of the stock one to help.
