If I go (and leaning against it right now) I would be avoiding the LA area and heading over to 10 via Tehachapi... Maybe the NorCal/SoCal meetup should be somewhere in the desert?

My 2 cents - old guy

How about the Starbucks at 1620 E Main Street, Barstow, CA? I'm assuming this is the route you're taking to get to interstate 40. This way the NorCal'ers can take 58 from Bakersfield and avoid LA.

I was thinking The Valero right off the Barstow Rd exit would be a good spot, looks like a decent station CLICK ME

mister j - I'm trying to convince myself that I need to drive to Arkansas, but I might be able to meet you somewhere for the drive to Barstow... Is the Focusfest worth the drive?

Hells yes brother. It's really fun
If you're coming from Folsom we could meet in Merced, that's where I'll be hitting 99. The only thing is I'll be leaving my house around 2am on Wed Aug 5th. It should take us each about the same amount of time to get from our houses to Merced, which is cool.
I'll be driving over 1k miles that first day ending in Albuquerque NM, but after that it'll be easy peazy
