Anybody done this to a ZXW? My filter box indicator is red and I want that thing out!

How often do you have to change the filter? Is it better to buy one of the oiled filters and then just clean it off every oil change?

Here is my entry into the DIY Intake lol... Mind you i still need to track down some silicone couplers. only used what i already had in the garage :)

I made it by cutting the Mass air tube in half and plugging it into the throttle body.
Early stages of the fitment process. I will track down some Plexiglas and make a shield. I also put in the crankcase tube thing.

My only concerns are the Mass air sensor orientation (dont know what O`Clock it is supposed to be turned to)

nice afternoon project

did this mod this afternoon. was able to use the 3.0 spectra filter (it was a beast) and it took about an hour and a half at a steady pace. first test drive seemed to be okay and i can definitely tell a difference in response. does sound a bit louder at start-up. i think i like it?!

Got my filter in the mail Monday. Supposed to be getting off work early today, can't wait to do this.

Edited: Did it this morning. Took about an hour and a half cause I had NO idea what I was doing. Simple though. Sounds better and feels better. Pretty sure I have better responce. Next weekend I think I will try the Thunder Throttle mod.

Both my wife's and mine are ATX, I have a 06 2.0 her's is a 07 2.0 and I have done mine and have the stuff to do her's just haven't gotten to it.

Its very simple. Just takes between an hour and an hour & a half. I found the hardest part was getting the MAF bolted back up to the resonator. Wouldn't line up for me for some reason.

Go for it man.

Thanks man, I'm looking into a Spectre filter here:

Looks like it's gonna fit ( it has both a 3" and a 3 1/2")

I think there are quite a few here running that. I have a thread here somewhere for a $10 filter from Edelbrock, its not edelbrock brand but seems to work just fine so far.

Mine was 3" and fit pretty snug.
