What Headers?

First off, i know i dont have a focus, sorry, but i have a slower and heavier relative, the 2.0 zetec cougar. Right now, i have the stock piping split into a dual outlet of 2 12" custom glasspacks. Really deep sounding, but now its time to make it louder and get some more gains. I have a low budget.. and the only types of headers that will fit are straightdown, no swirly upones. i am going to keep the cat, by moving it back a bit.

my question: will headers make my car much louder? what one should i choose? and should i remove the resonator?

should help with sound... gains may be a little... depends on if you want to remove the res or not... depending on sounds and law....

headers will make the exhaust a little bit louder but not much, removing the cat is what really makes an exhaust loud, thats the main bottle neck

A full length Focus header will not fit the Contique/Cougar-it will crash the oil pan. (I know-I picked up a Contour oil pan because it's a rear sump vs. the Focus front sump-I need it for my Merkur project).
A shorty will fit but you need an ORP specific to the Cougar.
Weapon R makes a Cougar header/ORP...

Or, what if i just put a hi-flow cat? would this help out at all? What does the resonator do? if i kept it, will it still be quiet? or deep souding?
