Basic Bolt ons: Exhaust Headers/Flex Pipes

i installed the race exhaust on my ZTS with no problem. but im not a car expert so i have a question!! what is the bar lookin thing going into the engine thats right above the exhaust manifold on the duratec engine. i want to get headers for it but will that get in the way?

For anyone who's still curious, I have a write up on installing my 02 sensor on my header, and there are a ton of pictures here. May help you get an idea of what the FSwerks header is like. Pictures? I have a header on my dtec, so I can probably answer that for you.

Sorry replying a month later. I don't frequent this thread. The bar is part of the EGR, exhaust gas recirculation, system. It takes exhaust gas and pumps it into the intake to lower emissions. Huge power robber. A header blocks this flow path so the entire EGR system can be removed. You'll need a tune to disable the CEL this causes.

So why do you need a tune other than to delete the CEL? Is there any immediate need to have it or could i go for a couple months without it?

u can go withought it i didnt have a tune for about 5 months i had cai/header/exhaust but after the tune the car runs 1000 times better

I've gone a few months without the tune, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'll most likely either run rich or lean, and either one of those are bad if you do it for a long period of time. I just didn't have the money right away.

If you have an exhaust leak, you'll probably notice a decrease in power and you'll probably hear some pops from the exhaust. Some places will check it for free.

wet your hand get under the car and have someone start it ull feel if its leaking
