New trunk release button

Has anyone done the addition of the trunk button into their 08 or 09 that did not come with the button yet?
or anyone have any info about the button?

Is it just a button with some sort of transmitter that does the same thing the remote does but its just hardwired to the car
or
does it have some connection to something to complete the circuit and pop the trunk?

I still haven't personally seen the button on a Focus yet, but I will soon when I go in for an oil change

Ignore this reply, as I didn't notice you were talking about an 08. While I doubt that it is wireless, and would expect a hardwire connection as on earlier models, I can't say for sure.

Yes, a big button located below the instrument cluster, to the left of the steering column.

i could be wrong but i think it just completes a the ground circuit. you might be able to get into where the latch is and see if there is a wire going to the release mechanism. if there is, i would splice into it and touch a wire to ground and if that doesnt work, try putting 12v to it. then you could run the wire to where you want.

I hate wiring diagrams cuz I always get confused

I do things by looking at one that's already done :D
