most likely a ground somewhere in the line trace the power line on the hatch release button might be a pain in the butt, there is also a way to do it with a multimeter using ohms to see how much resistance you are getting in the line,(grounding out or not) but im not positive wether resitance meant grounded or not. you might ask one of the audio guys on here they are pretty savvy electrical guys

yesterday i figured out that when i unplug the connector from the hatch release motor/actuator and press the hatch release button on the dash, it does NOT pop the fuse (aka: my power door locks still work). if there was a short or crack in the wire, even when i had the connector unplugged, the fuse would still pop, so would that mean that the actuator is what is bad in my case?

Exclamation

My truck release has not worked since i bought the car in 2006, and just stumbled upon this thread. well getting to the point I took the two screws out then checked the fuse behind the fuse box under the dash and i was not blown? any idea of how this could be and why my truck release does not work? could it be a grounding problem??

I have the same problem as you. I traced it down to my trunk actuator. Have you replaced yours ??? I have read in a manual that you have to file something down to take out the key cylinder in order to put it on the new actuator. Can anyone chime in on this one ??

$150 from a canadian dealer for an actuator...

JPSCOTT713: I did know about the accident before I bought the car, but was left under the impression that there were no residual defects that were related to the accident.

Update -> All the power locks and the power trunk release are working now. It seems that the locks were just stuck since the power lock function hadn't been used on them in a long time. I just had to lock and unlock the doors a few times and now they all work perfectly. So all it took is the replacement of that impossible-to-reach fuse.

P.S. I'm no longer friends with the girl from which I bought this car. >:-(
