Down payment on a newer car? Maybe awd since you live in snowy buffalo.

If you can land an SVT, they have strong internals. IT will hold a SC / Turbo just fine.
It keeps you in the family and another SVT on the forum.

you might be able to find an 02 SVTF for $6K, maybe an 03... the 02s had a bunch of clutch issues so you will need to check out the car's service history. The SVT is the nicest of the few you listed though.

with $3K saved... I recommend that you keep saving and keep driving the car you have. Your car is big enough to drive your friends arounds, new enough to be reliable. You won't get much of a GTI for $3-5K, not much of a Honda.

Spend the money on an education.

As long as your current car runs fine don't spend the money on another money pit (as all cars are).
