atx issue

ok so im out driving around on my way home, stop at cross street,its clear step on gas (NORMAL NO LEAD FOOT) focus starts to move and no power.hear a whirrling noise (no grinding more like a vacume with a broken belt kind of?? but way louder).roll across street pull over put atx in N noise stops.all gears but N and P make this noise.fluid is ok, i have no chack lights.tow home.
next mornig start car now this noise is happening in PARK also. I changed the fluid and filter about 500 to 800 miles ago and still looks clean. never had any issues tell now. taking it to AAMCO monday or tues. any ideas on this thing to check before im told i need a new trans.(we all know thats what they say)

wow that sounds bad i hope transmission isnt misalligned
on the foci automatic there is a solenoid that tends to go out making that certain gear useless but usually there is a check engine light

i recently had a solenoid go out (the 3rd-4th gear would not catch) so i changed the solenoid and fluid and filter flush myself easy as pie and parts were under $100 and free labor cause i did it

somehow find a way to get a diagnostic check free from advance auto or auto places of that nature before you spend money on a Mechanic (most will let u put a deposit down and the take the tool home and when u return it they print out your problem(a dealership or mechanic will charge the usual$90 "look at it fee")

and let us now the code number it pulls if there is any because there is a code reference on here that can narrow down your problem

The check engine light isn't on. That scares me. No transmission light, no anything.

sounds like the bands or gears let go in the tranny?

btw...a cheaper route than rebuilding the tranny would be to buy a low mileage one from a salvage yard if you could do the work yourself and save a ton of money

well i got a loner dtc reader and no codes. the thing said all is ok.
i think its off to a trans shop time. unless any one has a new idea of what to check.
