^^^^ It Keeps Ur car in closed loop, running off a programed loop: Not using the oxygen sensors to monitor a/f ratio. The car runs richer, and gets a hair more power. CEL is check engine light often referred as a MIL.

And in my car it will after a while turn the CEL.

No it doesn't add hp. It just help the engine run a little cooler. Cooler engine = more hp.

I've never used a thermostat for power increases. It's to help keep motors than run hot (like my mustang) at a more reasonable temp. to help curd detonation. Cooler engine does not mean more horsepower. Cooler (more dense) air does. Stock cars don't need to run a cooler thermostat. It will just screw stuff up. You actually want the motor to reach it's operating temp set by the factory, so...unless you are running a hot NA setup or are running a decent FI setup then it's a waste of money.

Caveat: I ran one in my F150 while I was in Phoenix in the summer time, not for power but to keep temps down when I was hauling the mustang around.
