I understand the cost of materials and labor, but when you are going to be selling ALOT of these you make the money up in # of units sold, like Walmart does. I think its a great design and probably will work great, but I am not willing to bay $200 for a part that has no power improvement at all. $100 would the most id ever pay for it. I can get the OEM unit for $36.73 with tax. The design is superior to the OEM no doubt, but still you will have to solve the sealing problem to the block?

But for some the O-Ring that seals the housing to the block is not the problem. Personally I am sick of housing after housing cracking. And living in a place with cold winters dose not help that. Constantly being heated to engine bay temps and then cooled down to 20 degrees again and again, expansion and contraction FTL... I am hoping for something in the $175 range, think about it,
it will last the lifetime of your car...

the new design should solve all the problems that plague the oem unit

personally, i think $200 is nothing compared to the inconvenience of losing all your coolant when the housing cracks.

comparing HTP to walmart is rediculous. these billet thermostat housings probably won't be sold at any store but the one on their website, and as you've proven, not even everyone on focus forums will want to buy one. IF everyone that owned a ford focus bought one of these, then yes, they would be cheaper.

still, thanks for your feedback, HTP does need to know just how cheap all of us Focus owners really are. :P

I didnt compare them to Walmart at all, I compared the strategy to that of Walmart, sell more make more... just a comment, I even said I am sure that the Quality will be far more superior...and I am in the same boat as you Kritter as I live in the same area as you do. I was just saying I am not spending over $100 for it, just my .02 is all.

Whitepony- I obviously understand that unit cost is inversely related to production numbers, that is the point of trying to get a group buy going. Unfortunately, HTP has to try to match their supply to our demand, so how many they sell is not up to them... it is up to us. My point was that the Walmart business model has almost nothing in common with HTP's.

Kritter- Yep, I'm on the edge of my seat... car is still sitting out in the driveway, waiting on this part to get her back on the road.

Go HTP, go!
