Race Headers?!

hey guys.... ive been going back and forth as to what to get at the beginning of august and ive narrowed it down to two setups.....

1) MAC shorty headers
FC flex
FC high flow cat

2) Focus Sport Race headers and flex pipe package

but as far as the legality of the race headers go... has anyone had any major problems with the po-po with this setup?? i know that the race header will give me more power, and that it eliminates the cat... but how often is your vehicle checked for emissions?? does anyone have long tube headers that can give me the full scoop??? and if not.... what other options as far as a full exhaust do i have???? i already got a magnaflow catback... so i want to stay 2.25 inch...

p.s.. is a 4-1 header better than a 4-2-1?? whats the differance as far as power goes???

thanks for all your help

- Jared

Ultimate best is to go with the race header because of the gains and it's less expensive than the shorty option.......

In NoVA the longest period you can go without emissions is about 2 years.....I have the FR header because I did not want to compromise the emissions....

Peace...

emissions is about 2 years in most places...well that's what i heard...it's 2 years here in maryland...but the difference between the 4-1 and the 4-2-1 i dont know...i dont think there is a difference really in hp gains....and with the police....dont know...some are cool and let you go and some are stuck ups and wont

i have the focus sport race header... and i have the going into a flowmaster muffler (which is pretty much loudest muffler u can get)... i got bitched by chicago cops once cuz someone called... it was late and i was rippin down some side streets... i recently got pulled over for burning out.. he didnt even say anything bout my exhaust... i am careful around cops but havent had problems... but i will say.. with my set up.. at WOT you can hear me more than a 1/4 mile away...but the gains are aweseome and would never get rid of it... as far as emissions go... if you have the mil eliminator or chip (like i do) you should be able to pass emissions because there wont be any codes triped... so as long as they dont look under your car, should be ok... pretty soon i am going to get a practice test to see if i pass (wont count against me) i will let u know what happens... i say go with the focus sport race header...

oh yea.... the sound... hmmm... guess i didnt factor that in.... i got the maganflow wich isnt too loud... i know that flowmasters are supposed to be much louder exhausts.... so the MIL eliminator kit would be a wise decision then huh..... anything else i would need when running a race header??

here is what i recomend... screw the MIL eliminator... those go out all the time and they are 40bucks... get a chip... with the extra power u will want to go faster than the 110mph limit... i hit at least 120 every morning going to work... had it up to 127.. fun :) but threw the chip you dont need to get the MIL plus to get some more power.. you can plug up your egr and the chip can also eliminate that to... it was worth the 230bucks.... tho u do have to run 93 octane only.. but no big deal.. i have the diablo delta chip.... plus with the chip get ur redline bumped up as well...but if you dont.. focus central sells the MIL elminators... let me know what u decide

The best race header you can buy is the SVT header, plain and simple. Designed by cosworth, no other header can touch it.

Call up mcnews, get the SVT header and extension pipe and then the Bosal flexpipe. Its all stainless steel unlike the FS stuff and will make the best gains.

its not gonna rust or anything... the fs header is ceramic coated... i dont think the svt header is ceramic coated... also how much does the svt set up go for? fs is 389... tho if you look around and get it used like i did... save lots of money... i paid 275 shipped...just a thought
