Good luck with the build....Everyone has their own reasons for going with a certain motor.

I dont agree , There is nothing stock about a 5.3LS with a turbo hanging on it , I work on the LS engines a lot and have to say that with all the work your doing a LS1/LS2 would of made about 100HP more with the same amount of boost , I have LS2 engine with bolt ons and tune doing 350HP to the wheels , add cams and 400HP to the wheels , add 4psi boost and he went to 667HP , you wont see that from the 5.3 with half the boost

The new 3 valve Ford would also been a good choise ,Have a stock engine 8psi making 500 to the wheels ,

Your choise of engine for a budget build (5.3 is cheap and easy to get vs LS2) is a good one , cant wait to see it running

do a little more research. it is a single mpt70 on that build. stock truck motor and megasquirt $200 ecu. he has the msd ignition box but that isnt need with the new version of megasquirt. so if you are including the turbo it is a $600 turbo, $200 ecu, and a $500 motor.

roushturbo you know me and i dont stuff that isnt right. my build will be done right. and i am very confident that there will be no way the zetec will touch it for the same money when finished.

yeah i know the ls2 will make much more power than this but that is just like you said more money. i can get a zo6 cam for $75 and give it 100 more hp. not bad for that plus the cost of new valve springs $180.

You said your keeping the stock suspension?

You not upgrading anything to hold the extra weight to try and keep in fun in the corners still? I have not driven a V8 focus, but I can't see it being fun in the corners with all this extra weight.

Didnt know if that was a factor for you or not.

Cool build none the less. Best of luck on it.

the suspension in the front will be the same... but they will have different spring for the weight. the rear will be mustang.

the weight will go up some, but i cant see it being to much over 3k lb and handling any worse than a mustang as long as i do the suspension right.. there wont be any kind of a/c stuff, and the interior will be gone. later the rear axle will be replaced with the cobra independent and the tranny replaced with a 4sp 4L80. i am going to try my best to keep this on the road courses and not the drag strip.

this is a cool build...

i just cant understand how you say the 5.0 is crap for making good power. those old 5.0 foxes run low 13s with almost no mods. with turbos could be a 10 second car...im just curious to where you came up with this conclusion?

because they crack right down the center of the block under the IM, when you make a lot of power. i mean over 5-600hp. i have seen to many on theturboforums that crack all the way down the middle of the block.

i am very happy with my choice on the block. there are better motors out there for sure. but for a budget build i will be happy with this motor and 800whp will be more than enough and the cast iron block will easily hold that.
