i started on my crossmember and motormounts this past weekend but finals is slowing me down. now that school is over i should be able to pick up the speed. hopefully have the motor and tranny mounted with in the next week. then i will start on getting the engine running.
i got my wastegate in today as well. tial 44mm ![]()

Love what your doing and cannot wait to see it finished!!! FF 09 is going to be sick if your thinking about making it out.
Personally, to have a little more room, you can build a 500hp 8000 rpm 302 motor for about $5000 including after market heads. You would need 93+ octane, though, with 13:1 compression. However, a decent bore and stroke and a turbo would put you in the same power range as this motor your building now, and it would have given slightly more engine bay room. 302's are under rated, but they can be made to kick arse with the right components. Their stock iron heads are what hurt them...

^^^ That is what I was thinking... A 90's era 302 can be easily made to push the same power for as much as or less than the LS chevy motors (not talking from experience, but from a lot reading Engine Masters and other magazines with dyno tests).
Besides, there is already a kit for installing a 5.0L 302 in our Focus. I applaud the effort to do something different, though.

for some reason tho u can make unlimited power with the ls engines from what i have seen. there seems to be no limit n/a or F/I. althu if i was going this far indepth with a motor swap i would have went with a 4.6 with cobra heads or somthings. very strong and make alot of power also. just my 2cents.
awesome build tho either way cant wait to see a finished product.
