all wiring will be custom since the whole car is controlled by the bcm. i will be using all autometer guages stock gauges work by the ecu. megasquirt will be stand alone ecu, it will be controlling both fuel and ignition on its own.

if you went with a carb and distributor it makes it easier to do a swap because the engine will basically run itself. but it isnt my style. and there are a few draw backs for a DD as well.

i just ask because if i were to do a swap v-8 swap i would have to go carb.
it would be considered as a hot rod for emmissons.
do they sell a kit that i could wire up for my stock guages to work,,,my friend put carb v8 race motor that he got from one of his dads old race car in a mazda rx7 and i think he had some thing like that because he had stock gauges.

there is definitely nothing wrong with going carb. there are plenty of them that run perfectly on the street.

as far as the guages. they are hooked up different than most cars that use them when they do a swap. look up a wiring digram for a focus's gauges. they all run directly to the ecu and you would have to figure out a way to copy that signal to get them to work. i have seen one focus that used the stock gauges and they spent a lot of time with the electronics to get that to work.

so all in all it is better to do aftermarket guages.
plus they look better.
waht about the anti-theft syestems,,will stock focus key still work.
i have tried to do searching info adout it but i cant find any,,do you have some links.

stock keys will work. anti theft will be irrelevant.

no links just figuring it out as i go. all you have to do is figure out how things work in order to know if they will work or not.

i done some more work on the tranny tunnel. i could have fit it without cutting the tunnel out but it wasnt as far back as i wanted it so i cut it out. it is looking pretty decent now. still needs some more but i need to get the engine tranny combo in to see how far back i can actually go with it.

can some one do me a favor?

i need someone to take a measurement from the bottom of their oil pan to the ground and the bottom of the crossmember to the ground. i am going to try to get the lsx oil pan to the same spot as the stock one.
