the reason i chose a 4 link is b/c cobra irs is a direct bolt in if i ever want to go that route. to mount the rear end like shown in the pic with the coils and every thing in the same place you would have to cut the whole back half off the car and start from scratch. the focus's frame rails are way different than that. if you are going full back half then you might as well go aftermarket 4 link or laterbar.

im not keeping the 327. that is just a starter engine. im going with a forged 6.0 iron block and another t76 after i get a good enough rearend and have the rest of the car up to the task

I was thinking just build brackets on the axle and move where the springs mount and all that other fun stuff. maybe that wont work. oh well ill figure it out.

btw with that offset of stock focus wheels would they stick out a lot still from that axle?

and damn... 6.0 will be nice.

with stock offset and width they will not stick out. but stock width wont get you a lot of traction. the wider you go the more offset you will need to keep them in the stock fenders.

as for the axle any thing is possible. but its a lot easier to put a vertical coil over on it than to do all the work getting factory stuff to work.

I had actually thought of using focus upper and lower spring seats and see where that puts it. oh well whatever. I know we have different goals... I don't want traction all that much.

oh well have fun.. I know this thread will be a.huge help. it already has been.

edit: I'm under the mustang right now anything you want me to look at?

got a small update. started on the trans tunnel. been in the process of buying a house. gotta get the brakes and steering finished to move it so i gotta get this trans tunnel done to hold the parking brake

got the trans tunnel finished and welded up completely. got access holes in it so i can get to bell housing bolts and dont have to pull engine and tranny as one. just need to drill a hole for the shift linkage.





the tunnel kinda reminds me of the first suit on the first iron man movie he built in the desert lol. should be plenty strong. im going to line the inside of the tunnel with 1/4" rubber to protect me incase the trans or converter blow. i cant afford a aftermarket weld on bell housing right now. i have a good converter but better safe than sorry lol.

smart.... and is that just a stock focus shift lever or what? (yeah you guessed it I'm going auto too)

What gauge metal is that? looks pretty solid....and where did you get it anyway? I dunno any good places for sheet metal

that is a ratchet shifter for a th400 for the manual valve body.

it is 18 gauge cold rolled steel from online metals
