6 is more than i paid for every thing i bought the other day. that isnt a bad price for the cutter but it is not something i need right now. that was more than i paid for the motor, rearend, or tranny lol.

i contacted the salvage yard that was suppose to be getting my transmission and they forgot to order it. so i cancelled the order. come to find out there is one for sale here in town that was in a guy's car on the local forum and it has less than 1k miles on it. he wants $150 for it because he blew his motor and it has been just sitting on a jack stand in his garage for a year. it will be awesome if it is still in good operating order but if it isnt $150 would leave me enough to build it.

I bought my transmission today. i paid $150 for a turbo400 with less than 1000 miles on it. it was sitting on a stand in a garage for a couple of years.

This is a pic of the 8.8 i bought the other day:

you do know you have to do some cutting for the trans to fit right?
there is a place thats sell the panel that goes over the new trans.
so some one can build one of these set up for what like 6000.00?

that turbo 400 looks more than a little familiar! I went through two turbo 350's on my '85 K5 Blazer before going to the turbo 400. it held on until i sold that truck. the blazer had the 5.7L 350 with comp cams, hooker headers to flowmaster 40's, full locking diffs, 35" super swampers, skidplate and a big ol cow tipper... best 2 features: it could blaze new trails through the woods & fit a twin mattress in the back we also used to tow old car hoods around the fields in the winter, etc. I got about 8-12mpg in that thing, lol.

yes i am well aware that i will have to do some cutting. it will be more than a little cutting, this whole thing will be custom.

im not buying any part of a kit from any one. i can make it for a lot less.

we are going to find out on the 6k thing. im keeping track of what i spend.

tim

im not worried about one off pieces messing up. if they break i made them once i can make them again.

today i got the tranny mocked up. i am not going to have to cut as much as i thought out of the fire wall. i cut the sub-frame out to fit the tranny and it fits very well. i will need to notch more on the drivers side for the shifter and i will need to cut maybe 1-2" back on the fire wall so the engine will fit far enough back and tuck up enough for my liking.
