Ecugrad's SVT STF Build Thread

Realized I didn't have a thread for my car, so I guess I'll start one.

2002 Focus SVT
non-sunroof

1st event on stock suspension

Then the modding began

Modified Steeda rear swaybar

Re-valved VW A2 Bilstein front struts in TeamDFL's old housings

Extended front upper strut mounts as the Bilsteins were longer than I needed

Coilover sleeve installed

First try at a rear spring solution

Lightweight battery and mount, so far this has been an awesome battery

Fun pic from yesterday. I am VERY rusty as between kids and running a 24 hours of Lemons car, I haven't autocrossed much in the last 5 years. I wanted to work on really getting close to the cones

Glad to see this thread!

While the weight, gearing, and power curve, all differ a little between my 2.3L car and the SVT... I still think the SVT can be built into a front-runner for STF. IMO, it's much better looking too.

Should lose an easy 5lbs from this, that will help offset the 25lbs from the trailer hitch I'm going to put on soon

I'm not terribly happy about it but the stock wires suck to work with. I need to get off my ass and replace all of the stock wiring "just because". I bolted my aluminum "frame' to the stock air box support, then drew a line that matched it perfectly, then removed the "frame" and cut it to match. Hope that makes sense
