Thermostat replacement

So my thermostat housing is cracked, and I need to get it replaced. Its leaking anti-freeze, luckily not a whole lot. But I took it to a place and they want like 350 bucks to do it, including a new thermostat, o-ring, and housing. Because I have a lot of aftermarket wiring hooked up to my battery, and they have to remove it all blablabla. Am I getting ripped off? Should I try someone else? I will say they do a good job and offer waranties, but still. Thanks in advance.

What a screw job. DIY for about $50.00. Check with a site sponsor for cheap.

I know I can do it a lot cheaper, but I also know the thermostat and housing can be pricey, especially the o-ring as ridiculous as that sounds. 50 bucks sounds good, but I dont think I can fix it for that cheap.

umm yeah ya can. replacing that housing is very simple and straitforward. go to an autoparts store near you and get a repair manual and follow the instructions. talk to mike at hilbish ford in kannapolis NC about the housing. he can get a deal for ya and probably install it for cheap too if you ask nice. he has his own little sub forum on this site B16SIR is his screen name i think
