Just thinking out loud....

1) Pool supply stores have dehydrated muratic (sp?) acid for sale. That's what we used, and we also added heat. It will work without heat though, it just depends on how long and how strong you make it. You want it on the weaker side using more time.

2) Heat resistance depends on the paint or the primer as in your question. A part like that I would probably not prime because few primers are made for high heat. We used to have good luck with barbeque grille spray paint on exhaust manifolds- even the "chrome" stuff.

I wouldn't worry about the paint, what's done is done. I was just thinking that it's an aluminum part. Aluminum buffs and shines nicely- even cast parts once you get the roughness off the top.

actually when i took that picture, i took the piece and soaked it down in electronics cleaner to degrease it pretty well. and then i wiped it down to make sure that i wasnt missing anything.

idk yet... my goal is a rough 185 to the wheels, which means the crank will see 200

Prob gonna need a dyno tune I am thinking...with the 2.3 head and 2.0 block. Don't think it's been done before.

yeah it's been done, 2.3 on a 2.0, pretty solid mod. BUT no one has put a 2.0 head on a 2.3 if anyone wants to be unique (for good reason)!
