Should I go Manual?

Hey everyone...I've tried calling some places around Pasadena such as Autolink, but they "don't do that kind of stuff". What I want to do is....I have an '02 Auto ZX3, and I want to convert it to a manual tranny. The only thing is, I have NO idea how much it would cost. All I know is, I really want a stick Focus. I want to mod without fear of criticism. That, and I love manual tranny. Anyone know how much it would cost (Ballpark?). And, if anyone lives near me, where can I go to get it done? Thanks everyone.

Use the "SEARCH" button, this has been discussed before...

Also, for the costs your looking at, just sell the current focus you own and go and buy another one but with the manual trans..... there is alot more to it than you think....

Which is exactly what I was afraid of... Sorry if this was mentioned in an earlier post. Oh well though. I suppose I could just trade-in/sell mine for a manual. I would think that getting it converted would give me a crappy setup than a normal, factory setup. But I am not the most "informed" person in te world about these things.

No problems, hey if you don't ask, you'll never know.....

Also, come to think about it but I don't know one person (on any focus board) that I have talked to yet that has done this or mentioned it. You best bet would definitely be to do a trade in which might work out well, manual trans is cheaper than an auto so you might not change your car payments overally much....

Well, mine is already paid for. This is pretty much my first car, so I don't really know how it would work trading-in or whatever either way.

Oh, in case it matters at all...I got it from CarMax. But that shouldn't make a difference in how/where I could/would trade it.

Would it?

I agree with S2, it's not worth it to do a conversion when you can just trade in your old car for a new manual.

or you could use the money that you were gonna use to do the swap to build up your auto tranny to be ALOT stronger than the manual 5 speed is. of course you wont have the same kinda control you would with a stick but you would still have plenty of room to mod. and dont worry about people sayin stuff "cause its an auto"...just point them to turbo tom and they will understand. autos can be made to be very fast as well...many people underestimate that

Question is, (as far as trade-ins go) how much do you think I'd have to spend to get the manual ZX3?

Oh, and about the "using the money for turbo etc." I don't even know what money I will use. This whole conversion/trade-in thing is just an idea floating in my head. I just wanted to see how Out-of-reach the idea would be. Thanks for everything so far!
