transaxle control switch

My guy picked up a 2005 ZX SE at the auction for me with 44,000 miles on it. When I start the car the O/D OFF indicator light glows yellow before turning green and then off. However, activating the transaxle control switch button on the gear shift does not illuminte the incicator at all (i.e deactivating overdrive). The cars seems to be a little sluggish at highway speeds and the the tachometer reads 2500 RPM's at 65mph and 2200 at 60mph leading me to believe that I'm not making it to OD in the first place. Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S When I checked the transmision/transaxle code on the door sticker it reads "2" under TR. The manuel that came with the car has no cooresponding code/description for a 2 type transmission.

There are known problems with shift solenoids and that may be your issue.

The search function will have more info than I will, but this is a good thread to at least look over ->
Don't "think outside the box".
There is no box.
Do it correct, or do it twice.
