Sounds like one HELL of a day, Brad. Sounds like it was a blast. What's the school cost for classes?

It was only $50 bucks. And yes, it was a blast. With the class limited to 50 cars you get a lot of track time. Plus you learn how to work the track, that in itself can get exciting when someone decides to swap ends right in front of you and you're just not sure which way you should RUN LIKE HELL !!. J/K, no one got close to hitting anyone, but those cars flying by kept you awake for sure.

No, that's not a knocked down cone behind me, it's one in a line of pointer cones!!

Did you need a special license? How about a roll cage? Any specific advice for a beginner? I want to start AutoX next season, but I want to get myself and the car ready over winter.

Buy a helmet (check your clubs helmet requirements first) and you're set. At least that's all that's required by my club (and they even have loaner helmets if you don't have your own).

If your local club offers an Auto-X School go for it. If not, go for it anyway, you'll get lots of help and advice from those at the track.

Only advice I can offer being a newbie myself is increase your tire pressure before you go or at the track. I wound up running 45lbs front, 36lbs rear before the day was over.

You can also check out www.scca.com (Sports Car Club of America) and click on SOLO at the top of the page. Also, here's a link to the NOVICE HANDBOOK from my club.

Oh yeah, you'll notice a "little" body roll in those pics above. I hope to get rid of some, hopefully most, with the Ford Racing Sway bar kit (22mm front, 25mm rear). The kit comes with Energy Suspension mounts and endlinks and is currently on sale through Mike at Hilbish Ford (b16sir1991 here on FF) for $269.50.
