Factory set speed limiter ?

Hey guys. New here. I have a 2010 focus ses. Just got the mykey taken off as I lost the key that wasn't programmed. Well now that my speed isn't limited to 80 anymore I recently found out it is limited at around 99mph. I want to know how how I can get this governor off. I'll be approaching 100 mph and my tach. will just stop at 3k rpm. And I won't be able to accelerate past that. Anyone have any recommended options? Thank you.

Jake

I am not sure what Ford specifically set the governor to for 2010's but is electronically limited. The only way to remove it or set it higher is by re-flashing the ECU via a handheld programer/tune via a SCT device. I am going to assume you need a higher speed set for track use or similar off public road use; this site doesn't tolerate talking about speeds above those that are legally posted on public roads.

There are several tuning options that can provide you with that. Member "1TurboFocus" offers remote tuning and sells the device. You can contact him over here via private message or creating a thread. Another company that specializes in Focus tuning is www.fswerks.com

The higher speeds are for track use only. Thank you for the info!

Yeah, tach. or typing is a bit off there.

3k ~ 70 would be normal.

Yeah I'm being serious. It is stopping at 3k rpm at 100 mph. It's weird too because when I rev in park/neutral it won't let me rev past 3k rpm as well. Some funky electronic controls on these cars nowadays. I'm assuming I'm in top gear while all this is happening.

I haven't tested a neutral rev. limiter on mine, but stopping at 3k in any gear is just wrong. Tach. isn't showing reality.

My car is a 2011 SES and I've had it well over 110. Scared to try it again, (edited to no good track to try it on handy)
