ST170 info
Has anyone installed a set of HIDs in the ST170 headlamps(european)? I was just wondering how they would work.I've been reading quite a bit on here about it and it seems like the St170s have no cut off point on the hid beam. I don't want to blind people, but I do want to see. Any advice is good advice.

any HID in a regular reflector housing will blind people. There are many idoits around here that are doing that, and it is going to lead to a crash, then there will be laws about illegal modification...
It is not worth it, if you want HID cheaply Ebay some projectors and build them. Or pay for the Mach's.

Hmmmm.....
You sound irritated CD... I haven't seen how bright the ST170s are but I heard they are pretty good. I am just getting a feel for whether hids would do any good in the ST170 housing or would they blind folks. Have you seen a set of these done up CD? They do have the casper shield and all.....

al you gotta do is aim them down, maybe it will still blind people but not as much.. and i dont know what about you, but i have been blinded more by VW gtis and glis than with no projector headlights with hids..

I highly oppose hid kits in reflector housings myself. I will be retro fitting bixenons, which i ordered hehe.
But here are cutoff pics of the inpros (black st170s). real st170's would probably be a bit sharper.

i dont think you ever had a 92-95 civic with an hid kid or lifted trucks with hid kits. they blind me really bad. REALLY bad. h4 bulbs are the worst to have as an hid kit.

h4 kits come with a reflector themselves, if you remove it... well that causes the glare, and the lifted trucks blind because of the angle.
Civics may blind you because they remove the reflector thing, civics are very low so that would be the only way unless they had high beams

I have not seen a set of ST170's with the HID kit retrofitted, but I can guess what they would look like even with the casper shield. I realize that HIDs are the best kind of light for clarity of the road, I think you would be disappointed in the ground/light coverage coming out of the housing.
Unless you salvaged a set out of an older Nissan Maxima like 2 body designs ago. They have a reflector that is similiar to the ST's. Just my $.02

Nuff said
I like the feed back. I think I'm going to stick with regular halogens for the ST170s. CD, I don't really like the Machs, I think they are ugly. I had a set of Ebay ones........absolute garbage. I had to threaten the place with high explosives to get my money back. They couldn't understand why I didn't want them......hmmmmm, maybe because you couldn't adjust them up or down without taking the headlamp assy apart.....assclowns.
I figure the halogens will work fine, just wanted a couple of opinions. Thanks
